Sensex gained 110 points in morning trade, but in second half of trade it dropped 18.85 pts closed at 17,213.7 and Nifty slipped 8 pts to 5,227.25 as traders opted to book profits ahead of weekend and inflation data. Asian shares and the Australian dollar jumped on Friday after China's second-quarter GDP data landed in line with forecasts.
